The New Moon occurs at 28° Aquarius on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at 7:01am in New York, USA. The aspect is a challenging square to freedom loving Uranus, setting a “don’t fence me in” tone for this New Moon and Annular Eclipse which will appear as a “ring of fire” but not in the US. New Moons are about initiation, beginnings and the new cycle of the moon. It is the time to start projects and plan your trajectory towards your goal. Plant now the seeds of future successes. New Moons are more emotionally balanced than full moons and last for the two weeks preceding the full moon. However, the Annual Eclipse will give it more intensity and extends the duration of the effect for up to six months. Future aspects made to the degree it occurred in will trigger its significance throughout the year. Also happening, just three days after this New Moon, is Saturn conjunct Neptune as they both entered Aries. This is the major aspect of this year.
FREEDOM: FLEXIBILITY REQUIRED
When crusty layers build up around established methods and concepts Uranus comes along to shake it off, bringing up needed questions of their validity and the need for change. Uranus is all about innovation, change and freedom often through sudden upsets which bring attention to what is old, outmoded and unnecessarily restrictive. It is an outer planet which plays out more in the socio-political arena. The intuitive and instinctual nature of the moon clashes with Uranian attributes of freedom, technology and change. It pulls the rug out from under convenient but restrictive convention and ushers in a much needed new perspective. The square of these two energies can be erratic, disruptive and uncomfortable and make for shocking headlines. Evasive and unscrupulous people will use this to create smoke screens to their advantage while humanitarian and community minded people rebel to reveal hypocrisies and injustices. Technology will play a major role for both and we will see the good and bad sides of tech tools as we witness a shaken snow globe of opinions, facts and lies throughout the internet. There may also be technical difficulties to hurdle. On a personal level this can make you very much aware of turbulent and erratic themes happening world-wide, your role in it and your community. The key is to be flexible in your plans while having a clearly defined and unifying goal. This same energy can also inspire creative breakthroughs. The Saturn/Neptune conjunction may also be a mixed bag. This combination can manifest dreams into reality or fear into stagnation. With all that’s going on it may be hard to be optimistic but necessary. Believe in your dream and make a solid plan. Engage in your community to promote peace and freedom. Conceive! Believe! Achieve! Dream it real!
